He'll talk on using the Internet to get started in genealogy, including
spotlighting some of the sites from the magazine's annual 101 Best Web Sites
feature, from the new August issue.
Computer
Forensics
As technology, and its many uses, grows so does the potential for that
technology to be utilized for criminal activity. Hence, Computer Forensics.
This series of classes at Cincinnati State will cover what the definitions
of Computer Crime, Digital Evidence, Locard’s Principle, while giving a
historical overview of the field in terms of actual use in the field.
Prior criminal cases will be covered along with techniques used by the
perpetrators to commit the crimes. Techniques on recovering digital evidence
will be discussed as well as the basics for preparing evidence for analysis
and presentation in a court of law.
Computer Forensics classes at Cincinnati State Technical and Community
College will cover analysis of evidence recovered from different operating
systems and the utilization of cross analysis with different Operating
Systems (i.e. analysis of a Windows environment with a Linux operating
system). In the actual class students will work with an actual scenario and
be given the opportunity to apply their skills in a hands scenario;
recovering data from a computer, analysis of that data, providing
documentation of their investigation, and finally preparing the evidence for
presentation in a court of law.
