January General Meeting Presentation

ARTIMIS

Advanced Regional Traffic Interactive

Management and Information System

ARTIMIS is the freeway management center for the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area.

ARTIMIS recently transitioned from a UNIX platform to a PC platform. This was for the sake of uniformity for equipment maintenance and operation in a larger organizational scale (Ohio Department of Transportation as a statewide agency). ARTIMIS uses fiber optic cable, telephone communication, and now some wireless communication to field devices. New technology has been a tremendous benefit for freeway management centers.

The presentation consists of a video highlighting the operation of all the ARTIMIS components, followed by a discussion in further detail and a question and answer period.

CPCUG members, please check out the web site at www.artimis.org to gather more information and to generate some interesting questions for the presenter, Andy Fluegemann, P.E., Acting Planning Administrator at ARTIMIS, or his representative.
